Has anyone had a chance to ride a 2004 LeMond Big Sky? The Big Sky is a light tourer/commuter with
an aluminum compact frame, very similar to the Specialized Sequoia. See

I like a semi-fast commute, about 25mi r/t @ 20mph, and want something i can put fenders and
panniers on (must come with eyelets and deep brakes). Touring bikes are out, too heavy and slow.
Looking at the specs the Big Sky has a shorter wheelbase (1015mm) than the Sequoia (1029mm) so I'd
expect a livelier ride; seems like the Sequoia may be a little too relaxed for me.

please, no opinions on steel vs. alum or horiz vs. sloping top tubes. i'm an engineer and have had
just enough undergrad courses in structural design and mechanics of materials to know that it ain't
the material, it's what the engineer does with the material and space frame design that matters. i
like traditional steel frames but i will not reject the whole universe of alum bikes just because
they are alum; my mind is very open to advances in bike engineering!
