  1. I am looking at getting an indoor trainer in the next couple of weeks and am
looking for any advice, experiences, comments, etc on different models.

I know that Fluid and Wind trainers are exponential resistance and mimic
road "feel" and that Magnetic trainers are a more linear resistance that
doesn't increase with speed. Also have heard that noisiest to quietest is
    Wind, Mag, Fluid??

I can remember GPLama mentioning his one on a BR once (Fluid 2 or
something??) and saying it was pretty good but I can't recall exact
name/brand. I have also recently seen a combination Fluid/Magnetic trainer
from Minoura......anyone tried one of these??

    I assume you've read this? :

I have a "fluid 2" and as far as spin trainers go, it's the lesser of
all the evils. It's better, IMO, than all the ones we carry at the LBS
I work at;Minoura, kinda cheap & nasty, and Tacx, which are good, but
not as sturdy as the fluid 2. The Tacx ones with the power meter are
    nice though, but pretty expensive!

I can see no need at all for the varying resistance stuff, it's a hack
that's being touted as a feature. My fluid-2 will demand 1200w+ if you
go the big ring and your 12, I doubt many riders can push that sort of
    wattage for very long ...
