I saw one on Sunday and wondered whether it would have the desired effect of
"humanising the target". Didn't stop to pick it up as I didn't know how to
attach it on the go. Should have kept it anyway and clipped it later on. Oh
well, plenty more to pick up off the ground I reckon.

The other evening I was trying to fathom the wind speed and direction.
Where are the flags on flagpoles or stationary cars when you need them?

PS Am I the only person to think that the met office has been
underestimating wind speeds over the last say 10 days? The E and NE and
N have been fairly vicious over East Anglia.

On the Windsor Triathlon on Sunday I overtook a woman with a flag
flying from the back of her bike - not the most aerodynamic of
accessories to race with....

perhaps she was just enjoying herself?
actually I overtook quite a few tri competitors last year; whilst
riding up to Ashdown Forest to marshall a RR.

No, I think it may not. I'm slightly shocked how primitive and visceral
my own response to people waving triumphalist flags is... and I've flown
the Saltire on my boat for years.

I remember an American from one of the southern states posting a while
ago in Another Place about getting sick of rednecks throwing e.g.
drinks cups at him: he mounted an American Flag on the back of his
bike, and the harrassment stopped instantly. (Though from my limited
experience of the South, if he wanted to make absolutely certain he'd
have mounted a Confederate flag and a gunrack.)
