  1. Where will it be on the telly? We considering investing in whatever it
takes as it's the only sport we watch. What will I need - 'set top
box'? whatever that is, or what?

    cheers

It's advertised as being on ITV4 (but not how much)
In which case you would need a freeview box.
    http://www.freeview.co.uk/ has info.

    You'll need digital. It's on British Eurosport & ITV4.

You can get ITV4 on Freeveiew, and British Eurosport on top-up TV if you
don't wish to pay filthy lucre for Sky.

if like me you are in a a freeview-free area (according to their
website) you could try one of these, went from zero to pretty good
    reception

NB if you're fitting it yourself be aware that some transmitters are
vertical and some horizontal so you may need to do a lot of playing
    around.

my dvdr would timer record straight off the digibox by setting its
    channel to EXT2 ..

Or you could connect the freeview box to a normal vhs recorder, and that to the
telly. This kind of setup's worked fine for me.

On Free to Air Digital Satellite it will be on Hotbird RAI Tre (a great
way to learn Italian as the commentators are so excellent too!) also
repeats on RAI Sport Sat (which has been showing the U26 Giro all this
week). There are "educational uses only" ways of watching Eurosport
International for free although all the French channels are pretty well
    protected now.
On Astra 1 it will be on German channels and on RTBF Sat and a few others.
    All the best
