Although I prefer the reason given by "Rope", I think Simeoni is suing Lance for defamation after something LA said about him. However, I don't think LA said anything about Simeoni's inability to satisfy his wife (&/or mother???).

Simeoni is seeking a anti-defamation lawsuit against Armstrong (I think during July of this year -
not sure what Armstrong said about him, but it wasn't flattering)

Armstrong apparently questioned Simeoni's testimony in Michele Ferrari's trial, according to a
report attributed to Cycling News (although I can't find the original at cyclingnews.com):

Armstrong said that Simeoni was a "absolute liar" when he (Simeoni) testified (under oath) that the
infamous dr. Ferrari ("iI see no reason why a a rider couldn't take products which cannot be
detected"😉 had prescriped him EPO and another illegitimate products. Why Simeoni would have lied
nobody knows (after his testimony he was immediately suspended by the UCI), but of course Armstrong
has all possible reasons to blacken him. Simeoni reacted immediately and sued Armstrong.

The real infamity is not Dr. Ferrari's knowledge, science and practice, but the antidoping itself,
the real cancer that is destroying our sport.

In this case though, I don't see why Simeoni could be sued. Lance saying Simeoni lied is exactly the
same as what Simeoni said about Dr. Ferrari, for him to be suspended by the UCI directly after
giving his testimony you would think he would be as worried about a suit coming from Ferrari.
