    Am I mad?

    I have just spent the last few months wondering which road bike to buy in a 800-1000 GBP range (Giant SCR 1 or TCR Team hybrid) and frankly Im sick of thinking about it!!!

    but its just occured to me.... 🙄

    whatever I buy is going to have to live in the garden, under a plastic sheet or possibly a simple shelter with a roof but with no sidewalls.

    surely im just going to be watching my hard earned cash rust away? 😠

    wouldnt i be better off spending the cash on a 400 quid OCR 2 and saving the 300 quid to replace rusty components as and when needed?

    I do so want a nice fast bike but Id be a fool to stick a 1k bike in the garden, wouldnt i?

    am i mad :eek: or is this a common dilemma?

    where do you guys n gals store your trusty steeds??

    Mine lives in the bedroom, its next to me now. But soon i have to put her to bed. Yes im sad, and the misses gives me some stick but f""k em. lol cheers nath

    Both my bikes live on a bike rack in the dining room of my smallish apartment. Works fine for me as I get to see them every morning on my way out to work.

    btw. carbon wouldnt rust.🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

    I have been riding for 6 months on an old road bike and saved the pennies for a basic entry level bike. This is my pride and joy and lives in my lounge room. Stuff putting it outside that's for when we conquere road together.

    The bike has already taken over your life and you haven't even got it yet. It is the Devil incarnate. Don't fight it - give in to it and pamper it. It's the others in your life who need to make the sacrifices - they can sleep outside.

    Mine too! Sometimes I reach out from under the covers and touch her just to make sure she's still there. Oh, wait . . . . . We're talking about a bike. I thought we were talking about the wife.

    My bike still resides in our bedroom and I wouldn't think about leaving it outside unless I was on it.

    evenh if i could afford it, i dont think you can get 100% carbon bikes, can you?

    surely the bits must be metal...

    ok. so what do you recommend for a wife shelter?

    seriously though, there dont seem to be any companies making small bike shelters for gardens etc.

    do HAVE to have a shed?

    my better half has put up with squeezing past my bike in the hallway for a year now. we are moving to our first house soon and i dont think either of us want the bike in sight and inside.....

    does this make me a cycling heretic 😕

    There's nothing works quite as well at convincing a wife of the benefits of sharing as putting her outside for a few Winter nights. Try it - I think you'll be surprised at the results.

    I converted my garage into a room so that my bikes are kept nice and warm and cosy. The car is outside braving the weather and now has a very attractive coating of moss around all of the window edges. Well you have to get your priorities right !

    i think that most owners would agree that something like a good and decent bike is for indoors trust your mind it will find a place

    I'm gonna pretend that I didn't just read that. Come to your senses, man! Sacrilege, pure and simple. The only way you can make this sad, sad, situation better is to give your bike its own room.

    I'm just gonna walk away from the computer no and collect myself.

    A suggestion: Tell her you are committed to spending more money than you have, then ask her to buy a minor share of the bike, say 25%. I guarantee if she has money invested in it, it never sees a rainy day or gets left out in the cold!! 😄

    :p u are smarter than a brain pie!!!! unfortunately, she thinks that its an obscene amount of money to spend on a bike and wont have anything to do with it....

    i have finally taken the plunge and gone for the Giant SCR 2 with Conti GP 4000 23mm tyres instead of stock 26 mm kendas!

    LBS gave me 100 GBP off the recommended retail price of 525, so im getting it and the GPs for 475 GBP.

    hope its a good compromise between my desire for speed and comfort. spent the difference to the T mobile hybrid on a new MP3 player!!! 😄

    i pick up on Saturday. fingers crossed.
