What he said about Armstrong was just plain wrong, but it is an idea held by
many French. That is that Armstrong because of his medical history had
permission to take drugs during the Tour de France that the other riders
didn't. If nothing else, l'Equipe disproved this, since after all, they
claimed they were looking into this particular aspect and so obtained
Armstrong's medical records from the 99 Tour. Had there been any approved
performance enhancing drugs listed, they'd have published that info.

He also said that the French started taking EPO cause the Spanish and
Italians started taking it. It was all their fault. And he said that if
there were no doping at all, it wouldn't change the results much. The best
riders would still win the big races.

  3. What a croc of [censored]. I read something last year about just how many of
the tour's participants bring a long list of prescription medications
for which they have a "pre-existing medical condition". They all show
up with lists of up to 20 prescriptions. Over half of them claim to
need asthma medication. The teams absolutely freaked when the
government wanted to get involved with how they declare and import
    their "medical" drugs into France.

What has Armstrong been convicted of? In the US (outside of Guantanamo, and
one or two special persons declared as "enemy combattants as sent to
military prison in North Carolina), people don't get sent to jail (even
garde a vue) unless they've been convicted or at least arrested.

BTW, how much time are Laurent and Fabian going to spend in jail now that
    they've been found guilty?

Which shows how far behind they were, because the Dutch
were using EPO long before the Spanish and Italian riders.

You lucky [censored]. The Napoleonic Code certainly simplifies things.
Presuming someone is guilty until they can prove they're innocent is so
cynical it's brilliant. Unfortunately we are hampered in the US by a
different doctrine - innocent until proven guilty. Sure we'd like to
throw people in jail on suspicion alone, but these things take time.

There's no difference - we have the same written statements of innocence
    being presumed.
Just ask any average potential juror - "That person MUST be guilty, or
they wouldn't have gone to all this trouble !" - is the real, practical
    presumption.

You also have pre-conviction detention. If guilty, I believe the usual
deal is credit at 2 times the period actually in jail before
conviction. And not even an apology, if not found guilty. I could be
    wrong ...

    On the Festina Process :

"At leats, do you do agree to say the true, that you take doping

To the question of the judge president Daniel Delegove, Richard Virenque
    ends up answering, "Yes".

"I had no choice. I was the black sheep, out of the herd I was finished ",

    1) You misunderstand the French legal system.
    2) Since the so-called "war on terror" it's easy for the US to throw people
in jail on suspicion alone and even torture them or have them tortured.
Just ask Jose Padilla, Yaser Hamdi, Maher Arar, Khaled Masri amongst

No, show me where L'Equipe and Le Monde and the French police went after
Jalabert, who you have to admit has as many or more doping stories and
connections about him as Armstrong, with the same fervor and one-sidedness
as they have Armstrong. And it's not because Jaja is less known in France
than Armstrong. He's on France Television. No, it's because the French
    people love their Panda.

When L'Equipe and Le Monde recently ran the story about the Roux trial, they
didn't even include that Fabien Roux said that Jalabert provided pot belge
at his party at his home and shot up himself. France is just as patriotic as
the US when it come to turning a blind eye to the misdeeds of it's heros.

The French press is on a crusade against Armstrong. Unfortunately, they lose
credability by trying to prove Armstrong's guilt at every chance they get
and sensationalize the story, rather than factually reporting it. If they
didn't have so muuch invested in trying to get Armstrong, the headline would
not have read "The Armstrong Lie" (Le Mensonge Armstrong"😉, which is a
condamnation of the character of the man, but rather something like "(New
Tests Show) Armstrong Used EPO (in 1999 Tour)" which is a description of the
    actual story.

Also, Laurent and Fabien Roux will not be going to jail. Their sentences

    |
    | If I allready remember, one evening the (French) Virenque of
    the(French)team
    | festina went to the (French) police
    | station with the (French)police force for to spend a (french) night.
    |
    | While Virenque spend his "police custody", Lance Armstrong pedalled with
    joy
    | and EPO.
    |
    | Even if Virenque denied his culpability the (French) organizers of the
    | (French) TDF canceled for two years his participation to the TDF. Lance,
    of
    | course was a cheater as Virenque was, but for your Hero..
    |
    | During two years the French and french television made fun and ridiculed
    the
    | (French)Virenque who claimed that he had no knowledges that his " doctor
    "
    | doped him, with the immortal " A l'insu de mon plein gré "
    |
    |
    |
    | On the Festina Process :
    |
    | "At leats, do you do agree to say the true, that you take doping
    | products?".
    | To the question of the judge president Daniel Delegove, Richard Virenque
    | ends up answering, "Yes".
    |
    | "I had no choice. I was the black sheep, out of the herd I was finished
    ",
    | explained the one who since the beginning hold that he thought that they
    | injected vitamins or tonics to him. ! ! !
    |
    | In 1998, the black sheep did not want to leave. He wanted to pursue, to
    do
    | his business. "And then, I said to myself that I was in a system
    everyone
    | practised ", added
    | Richard Virenque.
    |
    | The difference between our two countries is that for French justice
    | doping is assimilated to traffic of drug and not patriotism. The day your
    | patriotic newspapers will make the same thing with
    | Lance, I promises you to send all my respect.
    |

No, show me where L'Equipe and Le Monde and the French police went after
Jalabert, who you have to admit has as many or more doping stories and
connections about him as Armstrong, with the same fervor and one-sidedness
    as they have Armstrong.

Let see if I understand your point : The french justice is nationalist and
irrelevant because they did not included Jalabert in the process.
    Correct ?
Suppose the french justice accuse Jalabert, having relevant testemonies !
    ..
We can imagine your answer to be : Why not Hinault or Anquetil or Poulidor,
    etc..

No, my friend, it is so easy to say : "Armstrong is victim of a french plot
    !"
Are all the accusers french ?
    No, of course no !

A cheater is a cheater; We don't care the cheater to be Virenque or
Armstrong or Jalabert, to be french or american.

A cheater as Lance must be uncovered as Virenque was .

And it's not because Jaja is less known in France

    Quoted message said:

than Armstrong. He's on France Television. No, it's because the French
    people love their Panda.

When L'Equipe and Le Monde recently ran the story about the Roux trial,
    they
didn't even include that Fabien Roux said that Jalabert provided pot belge
at his party at his home and shot up himself. France is just as patriotic
    as
the US when it come to turning a blind eye to the misdeeds of it's heros.

The French press is on a crusade against Armstrong. Unfortunately, they
    lose
credability by trying to prove Armstrong's guilt at every chance they get
and sensationalize the story, rather than factually reporting it. If they
didn't have so muuch invested in trying to get Armstrong, the headline
    would
not have read "The Armstrong Lie" (Le Mensonge Armstrong"😉, which is a
condamnation of the character of the man, but rather something like "(New
Tests Show) Armstrong Used EPO (in 1999 Tour)" which is a description of
    the
    actual story.

Also, Laurent and Fabien Roux will not be going to jail. Their sentences
    have been suspended.

Not correct., I'm not talking about the french justice system, but the
French press. After all, Armstrong's supposed crimes have happened in France
and he has never been tried in France. That's because the French justice
system, like the American justice system, has no concrete evidence against
him. Heresay, especially when contradicted by others who were present at the
same conversation may count as "proof" for l'Equipe, but fortunately not for
    the judicial system.

And in fact Armstrong has appeared in court in the US for fraud related to
his alleged doping practices. And he won the case plus 2.5 million dollars
in penalties. So you are wrong not just on the theory but the facts as well.
Ah quelle tristesse when a beautiful theory is ruined by ugly facts!

But obvuiosly not COVERED the same way by the French press. Because we (nous
les français) certainly do care whether the cheater is named Jalabert or
    Armstrong.

Good point. I was told he will come back to France for the last week of the
    TDF.
Coming back to France without a fear to be under french justice will be
    excellent for his reputation
