  1. Jaksche's doctor: drug use common
German doctor Kurt Moosburger, who has looked after Jörg Jaksche (among
others) for the past two years, has told dpa that he believes that
performance enhancing drugs are "indispensable" for high level cycling

In a frank interview, Moosburger pointed to the average speeds of modern
professional races, especially hard tours. "The average in last year's Tour
was 41 kilometres per hour - that is incredible. You can do a hard Alpine
stage without doping. But after that, the muscles are exhausted. You need -
depending on your training conditions - up to three days in order to
    regenerate."

To help recover, testosterone and human growth hormone can be used. "Both
are made by the body and are therefore natural substances," he said. "They
help to build muscle as well as in muscle recovery."

Dr Moosburger explained how it was done. "You put a standard testosterone
patch that is used for male hormone replacement therapy on your scrotum and
leave it there for about six hours. The small dose is not sufficient to
produce a positive urine result in the doping test, but the body actually
    recovers faster." ...............

That's the easy part. Taking it off, OTOH, is different story...

If you can pull it off, you don't need the extra testosterone...

I wonder if we'll see an increase in treatment of square abrasions on
the scrotum. "I read it on the Internet. It's gotta be true!"

There's never going to be a "clean" Tour, Brian. Never was going to be
one, either. But, certainly not until every possible usable substance
(whether actually performance-enhancing or not) is reliably, quickly
"test-able". Including gene modification, of course.

    Here's a quick read:

The picture you paint of "seeing riders suffering in the mountains" is
perhaps not without a dark side of its own.

Leading to a rational approach, perhaps? Some day? Rules that leave
persons and personalities out of the equation?

    "Discuss". Thank you! --D-y

I basically agree. As Bill wrote, you can only make the cesspool cleaner.

Better to suffer and recover than compromise ones medical future. But, for
how much money would you or I bend with the wind?

    Right, scrotum inspections for everyone!

Even [censored] Pound isn't signing up for that. But at least now we know
why Ronde Champ always told people who asked about leg shaving to
make sure they went all the way up.

Jaksche's out, though, so doesn't that mean the Tour is clean
    after all?

well, to be honest, i was moderately interested in the job.

The burning question is, how do women cyclists benefit from this type of
treatment? I'm going to need pictures to be absoutely clear.

WTF is happening to this newsgroup?! Now we're discussing scrotum
inspections, caffeine enemas, Brian brings up his sordid S/M perversion
(really no surprise there), the guy in charge of keeping things clean
is named [censored] Pound. I might as well go hang out over at
alt.sex.furry.little animals. You're all a bunch of perverts!

I always knew there was something wrong with intervals. Looks like I
    was right, too.

    Why the assumed mutual exclusivity?

Contrast the "unfit to start" hematocrit sanctions with the "Get Tyler"
campaign in terms of effectiveness in limiting dangerous practices, and
impact on public perception of the sport of cycling.

The fact that the police are doing most all of the "catching" part of
"catch and punish" process (that will never clean up sports in the
first place) is an embarrassing indictment of the WADA Way in my humble
    opinion.

Don't forget fame/glory, name in the record books, and the ability to

Fortunately, I've never been good enough to be tempted...

  10. No wonder some riders get testicular cancer.

Maybe [censored] Pound & Co. should do scrotum checks at breakfast. Anyone found
with a patch, or evidence of having had one, is kicked in the balls and sent
    bye bye.
