What PS seems not to realise is that there will always be some road deaths. This morning, as I was
watching Star Trek Deep Space 9 before I went to bed (insomniac period at the mo) I head firstly a
honk, closely followed by a skid of tyres, then a smash. A car, whose driver seemed not to
understand that damp roads provide less grip than dry ones, managed to crash into my neighbours
parked car. I'm not too sure whom the driver was honking as he managed to crash all by himself.

That's actually pretty much what I thought from W K's description, before having looked at the
picture. But having looked at the picture, I find the comparison more than a little upsetting.

I hope to be significantly older than that before I have ears that size. I bet he'd have a drag
problem if he rode a bike.

Nonononono, you need a beard to ride a *trike*.

I grew one last month (not a trike, you understand, but a beard). Several people (including DW)
commented that it suited me. It was lovely and warm, and I thoroughly enjoyed not shaving. But it
had to come off because DW didn't like kissing it :-(

Ah well, there go my dreams of trike ownership.

My thoughts exactly. Whether one agrees or not with the proliferation of cameras the easy way to
cheat the system is to not speed. To get caught on camera points to poor observational skills which
is contrary to having the ability to drive fast safely anyway.

I reckon that's at the bottom of a very /very/ long list of things PS does not realise, along with
just how unwise it is to allow pictures like that to be circulated on the Internet...

Of course if he was really a road safety campaigner there might be some evidence on his webshite
that he has any agenda at all other than making it safer (in terms of not losing their licence) for

But surely the beard both increases weight and drag for the cyclist (though maybe not as much as
excess chocolate in the diet). Would a better approach be the complete shave - head and all? That
said, the complete shave would be a bit cold in the coming winter. Beards may be better, as on the
trike its harder to put your head down out of the way of the prevailing weather.

It is hard to imagine a trike rider with no hair at all - the image does sort of imply beard ;-)

The increase in weight is made up for by the *reduction* in drag, as the individual hairs create
little eddies that disrupt the airflow, much like the bumps on a shark's skin ;-P

The bloke was on about cancer and stuff too. When in the middle of a crisis you aren't good at
paying attention to the road, and need to be going slower than usual.

I know its stupid, but he never listened to the stuff that made sense. (hell, he did from time to
time, boy did I kick myself).

He's self referential, and does not realise he breaks rules of science that would shame a 10 year
old, and used to end up just calling me a [censored] whenever I got close to getting him to
understand that.

As for his appearance - he's responsable for the tie and the pony tail.
