At this point in the race, and with the course configuration, I don't think
it's a problem. There's not another sprinter stage until the 18th, and by
then, if Cadel is somehow in yellow, the team will control all dangerous
breakaways. They don't need to save anything for any later stages.

As you said, Robbie doesn't need a train. All he need do is stay in Boonen's
wheel.

If Cadel wins this year, it will be interesting to see what team they bring
next year. I think they'll recruit some Spanish climbers ala Bruyneel. Evans
today said that the team doesn't really have guys who are good in the
mountains to help him. But if he ends up in yellow, I think they will next
year. But I think this is Landis's year. Menchov is the only serious threat,
but I think Rabobank will have to be very clever to win.

Don't forget that Zabel never (or almost never) had any team support in the
finale and he managed a win or two that way. McEwen is very good at getting through
tiny gaps and he certainly has a more explosive sprint than just about anyone out
there now. Petacchi works best off a train and Boonen seems to work best off one
too, though it doesn't seem to have to be quite so organized as the ones Petacchi
likes (or nearly as long and organized as the ones Cipo preferred). My favorite
sprinters were Djamolidine Abdujaparov and Frederic Moncassin. They did it on their
own.
