attaching the straps to the top tube.
A D-ring sewn to webbing that wraps tube and remains attached
to the bike. Shoulder strap with clips to attach/detach from D-rings.
The band needs some anchor point so that it won't slide back and
forth on frame (band in front of steering, cable stop, etc...). Use
Velcro with sufficient overlap to attach the bands. Hose clamps
(padded) could also work as attachment points.
The shorter and lighter the bike the better. I sometimes carry
my Volae across rough surfaces/stickers. I carried it several
hundred feet along rough railroad right of way to get around a
stopped train blocking rural road crossing. I can imagine
carrying it up and down stairs, if I had to, but not so easily
my Tour Easy. Maybe with block and tackle! %^)
How about lobbying the landlord to install bike storage lockers
downstairs to rent for additional charge, assuming security
concerns are manageable.
