HAMILTON—The scope of what's being called the biggest event in this city's history is just beginning
to dawn on many of the local denizens.
The week-long 2003 World Road Cycling Championships, starting tonight with the opening ceremonies,
will determine the best cyclists in the world in road race and time trial events. . . .
. . . "This is killing my business," Elzein said. "The whole thing is just a waste of time."
One of his customers, Romas Rimkus, who said he works for the city in road maintenance, doesn't
mince words.
"It sucks," Rimkus said. "I can't get to work. I can't get home from work. It screws everything up .
