  1. i bought shimano pedals and cleats for my bike and i just cant get useed to hooking the damn cleats into the bike as i am pedaling down a singletrack. i have tried to improve on how i do this, but i dont seem to get any better and it is extremely frustrating. does anyone have any ideas or shortcuts to just snapping in cleats with no problem? thanks

  2. Maybe try loosening them off to begin with? That way its easier to clip in, but there is more chance of you pulling out accidentally (so be a bit careful).

It might be worth spending some time while stationary just holding on to a post and clipping in and out until you can do it without looking.

  3. loosen em a lil'. then PRAY that will work.

Sorry Tim, I hate original SPD's . I have switched to Crank Brothers for some time now. I use for both Road and MTB. The nice thing about Candies or Quattro’s are the fact that the pedals are dual sided so you don't have to orient the pedal, the beater spins around so all you have to do is pass your cleat over the beater\pedal and it will catch and engage. Plus you have a slight platform so you don't have to clip in, you can ride bike with any shoe if you have to. Don't try barefoot though I tried this past week and that hurt. I got stuck in gravel and couldn't pedal, had to bail.
