My post mentioned that it was known for skiing AND mountain biking - so
I figured perhaps mountain bikers had been there .

I go Red regularly. If you like skiing groomed runs you will hate it.
It's going to be an El Nino year, that could really suck for skiing this
year.
I always stay at my friend's house, can't comment on accommodation rates.
