  1. Hi I usually train 3 weeks and then have 1 week of recuperation but this year I struggled a bit with planning my vacation so i did 4 weeks of training until i went on vacation for a week but even after hardly training during my holiday i have really heavy legs.It would be great if someone could give me an advice what to do now!
Thank you already for your support!

  2. I find this an interesting post since I'm in a rest week and my legs feel really tired all of the sudden. This past weekend it was abundantly clear I needed some time off, so this week is it. Seems like my legs are really tight today.

Obviously it's still early Tuesday and I have a few more days of R&R. I'll see how it goes this weekend. But I'm also interested in people's experience here.

  3. I've said this before, however, I've found you have to train hard to be able to train hard. Last week I was forced through circumstances to take 3 consecutive days off (something I never do). On the 4th & 5th days I had a job to get the legs moving. The week before I trained 4 straight days with no problems.

One caveat though: I'm talking about L4, L5 and L6 workouts in the gym. After a long ride (last Sunday nearly 6 hours) I take the next day off. The reason being, because of all the climbing my quads are really singing and it's better to heed there complaining and give them a rest.

One final thing, unless your legs are really tired, it is possible to override their pleading for mercy. It has taken me 8 months of serious training to be able to this, but it can be done. If you are doing a VO2Max workout at say 115/120% then you have to tell your legs to shut up and stop moaning. Although AWC intervals are done at an even higher wattage, as they are only 2-3 mins long, I find it easier to ignore what my legs are telling me.

Well if you understand what I've said, please let me know because I've no idea. 😄 TYSON

  4. Of course you gotta tell your legs to shut up during these kind of interval sessions but i ment a general tiredness even while doing comfortable distance rides.Eventually i found the recipe at least as it comes to myself how to feel good again after a longer period of relaxing.Yesterday i did a 3 hous 1.5 lactat ride and a maxstrength workout in the gym in the afternoon and today felt great and refueled again as it it should be after a week of recuperation.

So what kind of strategy do you guys have to wake up your body?

  5. A month ago I started a 5-6x per week 30 minute Pilates routine at home while watching Letterman. Gazzilons of sit ups were not doing it for me. In two weeks I noticed leg strength improved and less fatigue while on the saddle and running. I am hoping for increased strength and endurance in swimming too, yup, i tri.😉

  6. Anyone here know if morning tired legs are associated with insomnia? hardly any sleep the last few days, low appetite and 5lbs under my normal weight. my legs feel tired as hell in the morning.

  7. you took a week off the bike but did you actually rest? no use taking time off the bike only to tire yourself out with other activities that are just as tiring. on my rest week i find the most important thing is to get all kinds of sleep 10hs+ and limit other activities.. when i come back from a long time off 3 to max 5 days.. day one is just 45min to 1hr Endurance/Tempo then and then shorter intense workouts taking an entire next week to get back to my real routine again... don't come back too fast... if you have tired legs i'd say do shorter unstructured intesity

how may hrs a week do you do... this summer i did a 4 then a 6week cycle and then a week off and came back slow (3 days of 45min - 1.5hrs unstructured intesity) and boom, i was flying...

Have read that real sleep is needed for recovery; nothing is as good. So, if you continuing normal training load while sleep-deprived, your legs would be tired.

Actually, insomnia, weight loss and tired legs are all classic signs of overtraining. I've noticed that intense riding seems to generate adrenalin, which gives me a wired feeling and usually has me waking up after 3 hours sleep. That's when I need a few days of very slow rides, or hikes in the woods to recover...but I'm an old guy 🙂

  9. 🙂 Hey Boys! Try It When You Are 56, Have An Artificial Hip, Thigh, And
Arm And The Weather Is Changing. Take A Deep Breath, Be Greatful You
Can Still Pedal, and Slow Down A Little Then Build Back Up Again. Rest
Up, Get Back To It, And Your Body Will Thank You For It.

For All Of You: Keep Up The Good Work. Bless Y"all!
