  1. I've got a frame in the garage and want to get it going for my son
without spending too much. If anyone has a 2nd hand gruppo of
reasonable standard and wear lying around (e.g. if you upgraded to 10
speed), would you like to sell it? Campag or Shimano 105 upwards would
be great. Email me on pjl dot whittle AT optusnet dot com dot au.
    Thanks.

Apologies if anyone is bothered by the want ad.

  2. You're not going to let poor munchkin ride to school are you!?!

Can you even imagine the outrage of all the Churchie mums when they find out the reason their boy wants to ride to school is because your boy rides to school? You'll be done for manslaughter, no doubt!

By the way, isn't that what you have a Volvo for?

He wants to be a triathlete and while I have my personal views on this,
any opportunity to get a kid on a bike is not to be missed. Thanks to
PJ for his gruppo and wheels - we are building it up tonight!

Make him a younger sibling and buy him a new bike with the baby bonus!

    I'm full of good advice.

I'll get the vial out of the freezer and see what the wife says. I'll
    mention your name.

If I won't let him ride to school, and am worried about him being a
triathlete, I'd hardly want him hanging out in a.b!!

As someone who has financed three children from birth to employment, let me
assure you that a $3 or $4K baby bonus is not going to go very far. :-)

Well there's your problem Theo, the idea is to get the
immediate cash, spend it on the bike, and let the Australia
    public finance your children...

Oh I dunno, 10,000 km a year would be quite a way!

Noooo! I'm the Australian public and I don't want to finance any more
    children.

Only if they ride the distance away from home... not if they do it in loops of varied length and come home each night

LotteBum, take your own advice and offer your surrogate services. That way you and donga can split the $4k baby bonus. Donga gets a grouppo and triathlete up and running, and you could get some new disc brakes. Don't know what you'd be telling Paulie-AU though .. .. . .. ....  😄 😎 😎 🙄 :p :p :p

I'll just chat to the wife about that one too, MM, and tell her you
    suggested it.

Great advice, but I'm afraid I'm not the sharing type. Paulie-AU and I are currently trying for a multiple pregnancy. Preferably quins, but absolutely no less than two will be tolerated. $4,000 each would go towards a couple of reasonably nice bikes. Maybe we'll buy a couple of jolly jumpers so the babies can entertain themselves whilst we ride.
