Is this the legacy of mountain biking? Lucky this young boy did not
break his neck -- the helmets do not protect from that kind of injury.
This dad just does not "get it". And the other unnecessary burdens on
our health care system.

cracked Helmet

last week I took my son to Whistler . being new to the sport, we had
to purchase a full face helmet.
after trying on several. my 11 year old picked the most expensive one.
grumbling I agreed and payed
the $160 for the cool helmet that is in all the mags.
After lunch we were having a great day . My son was getting more and
more confident in the whistler experiance.
while traveling down the road part of heart of darkness. He hit a rut
and gave too much front break.
seeing your son fly over the Handle bars landing head first into a
rock was trama enough. he was scruched up motionless
for some time. Luckly a moutain giude was near by and call for the
medics. carfully we isolate his body to a back board
and was transported via ambulance to the Hospital.
After beiing checked over buy the emergancy doctor. He was relesed
with a small headach and a slightly bent bike.
Bringing the Helmet Back to the store of Purchase. they Immediatly cut
off the straps, pulled out the lining and showed us that the helmet
had done it's Job. they Gave us a new hemet at a reduce (crash
Insurance) cost.
I am greatfull at the technology and that my son had made the right
choice. So If any of your Parents ever complain about the High cost of
protective
equipment. Have them send me a e-mail and I will set them straight.

I fractured a rib last Wednesday hitting a little step-down jump on my
big bike that I had already hit-up succesfully before on my HT.
Basically it went like this: DH run in down to little booter. Pedaled
in, way too fast, overshot landing after stylie dead-sailor air, and
landed in a brush pile where an intuitively placed branch gouged
nicely into my side causing much pain and a now very tender right
side. So [censored].

Got new teeth last week ,they were nice & perdy .Today went for ride
down Boogieman did face plant off pile driver & done broke em.

on the north shore....gets to see me.
U break em....get em fixed...and i get you going.
i see all kinds of broken bones at work....frickin crazy ass
stuff...like busted knee caps, shin bones, double broken wrists...
and once the whislter bike park gets rollin, man o man are there some
doozies.
My reccomendation?
Put on knee pads...nice big thick puffy ones like the ones Troy Lee
puts out...they'll save ya the most injuries.

my buddy did this on the big wall ride at whistler. bones poked out
of the body armour.

he also did this to his knee during the same crash. he's all good
now. the doctors in vancouver put him back together after about
25,000 dollars in surgery.
