  1. No air, no grass, no trees, no game, no hunters, nobody but us. Getting above treeline in October
can be fun...if you let it be so.

Ok, just a few trees and Mr. Moonlight below 11,000ft.

What you can't see is the snowfield Angry Man just walked up.

    gallery.consumerreview.com101903004.jpg

We're going thataway. After minimal snowplowing at 13,000ft, we dropped into this most excellent
    valley of singletrack.

Exiting one of the many switchbacks, this one being the smoothest of the lot by far.

One of my "white whales" on this trail, the infamous "S Turn" switchbacks. It's now a former
    white whale.

Back in the flats after hanging behind the saddle for 3,000ft, a nice change.

  5. Nice pics, from somewhere in the Rockies, but you don´t say from where they are? Is it a secret?

Everywhere I ride is a secret, Per. If one can't use their imagination and/or roll the dice in
finding a good ride once in a while, they don't deseve to be called a mountain biker. Those who sit
back and glean all of the free information from the internet and go where the ragazines tell them
it's "cool" to ride are nothing more than morons on bicycles.

Somewhere like that. It was a roll of the dice, you almost getting a phone call mid-morning

    Penny

Probably fewer than pro photographers delete. You ever see how much film they take with them? They
shoot hundreds and hundreds of photographs, and only pick a few from the lot. 1/3 of photography is
art, 1/3 is skill, and the other third is luck.

Quite a few Penny, but as a few here know, the best ones don't get posted at mtbr(etards) or here.

I was out doing a solo "tour de Hartman's" on the SS. I was feelin' the magic!

Only saw a couple of people out there (kind of unusual for a Sunday during hunting season) and knew
    them both.

    - hmm, I´d say it is pretty rational to sift out where the best rides are, unless you are some into
some extreme form Rosseaueanism, makes it possible to ride a good one instead of a poor or mucky
one at times. Though, of course, sometimes you can find really nice singletrack where you might
    not expect it.

At least you ended your reply with the spirit. Rationality is for "serious" mountain bikers. We
flipped a coin a few times Sunday AM and wound up where the photos were taken.

    knew them both.

That was our second choice and a close one it was. Saturday was spent singlespeeding on a tour de
Bookcliffs, so we decided and gambled that our final choice was open. Let's see Hartman's stay open
    until mod-November, shall we?
