Headset size on a 2003 Giant TCR Two?

Why did you not ask at the shop.There are different standards even for 11/8". The Giant catalogue says FSA 11/8" for the TCR.

Well.. the LBS were being quite anal about the whole thing. Were more interested in where I purchased the frame than anything else. One thing I know is that I wont be buying from there again.

I measured the headset and inside dia of headtube is 42 +/-mm... and the headset is 50mm (1-1/8"😉...

I've e-mailed FSA seen as their headsets are spec's on Giants, but their website doesnt list a 1" headset! Might e-mail Giant too...

OCR frames use a 1".

It seems like the headset cups are 1", but the top cap that goes over the bearings fits my forks steerer. Leads me to believe that the fork and headset are two different sizes. Could this be right?

you probably need the Orbit I (integrated - Cane Creek standard) as opposed to the headset you have.

the Orbit I needs a 41mm inner diameter head tube.

it's confusing with all these "standards" for an integrated set. they all use 1 1/8" forks, but depend on frame design.

I contacted a Giant dealer and they have ordered me an Orbit specifically for the bike. Giant make some nice frames, I just wish companies would stop using these damn integrated headsets. Stick with the standard design so I can use a Chris King 🙂

Glad you worked that out. The TCRs definitely use a 1 1/8" steerer, but as you've all pointed out, beyond that, there's a whole lot up in the air with integrated headsets.

As much as things might be simpler in standard headset land, we may as well start hoping the integrated thing gets easier to use -- because integrated headsets are the way things seem to be going.
