  1. Does it ever happen? Can your CTL just plateau?? I am on my third 6 weeks block. Or on the 4th month SST. At the end of my second 6 weeks block, my CTL was 60tss/day. After a 6 days rest, I started my third 6 weeks block at 55tss/day. It has been 13 days now, my CTL is at 58tss/day for the past week. Granted that the weather hasn't been good enough to ride and I could barely get in more than 3 SST sessions per week.

  2. Yes, of course it can plateau. in order to make it continue to increase, you'll either have to increase the time or intensity of your riding.

  3. Right. CTL will eventually build up to, then 'plateau' at the average TSS/day of your workout routine. If you want it to go higher than you'll need to increase your average TSS/d for a period of several weeks.

Even this may not be enough as presumably your FTP also improves through this time, meaning absolute wattage has to lift in order to just to "earn" the same TSS.

Ah, yes, right. Then again, I'm not convinced we'd see a post like this if his FTP was continuing to climb! 😉

But it's a valid point for sure, and I hope to get there some day myself. :p

  6. Thanks. Just did a 2 trainer sessions today. 1 at 86% FT for 1 hour and 30 minutes. 8 hours later, 1 hour at 90% FT. CTL now is 60. Plan to another double session tomorrow.

Obviously, my concern is that whether or not my body can adjust the increase training load (increase in duration and intensity) to actually earn or increase the overall CTL.

So session RPE, recovery cost etc should remain the same to get those points!
