I've spent up to 5.99 before. In terms of material they may not seem
worth it but when our globaly warmed summers come along, you are very
thankful for them!

I happily paid £3.99 for a water bottle *and holder* from Tesco - I
only wanted a new holder which is why I'm not too upset that someone
has pinched the bottle which I left lying around somewhere!

I've seen 'um range from 2.99 up to 8.99, so 3.99 is ok. If you want
one free then enter a local fun run or charity ride or if you're
desparate go follow (in yer car) a local cycle club on their weekend
ride. Someone's bound to drop a bottle at some stage.

Why do people in UK happily pay over the odds for water bottles then?

I meant that there have been a few replies in this thread saying that it's
normal. I assume if they think it's normal, that's what they would pay.

I got one from a trade exhibition at the NEC, which was free to get
into as well and there were a couple of companies giving them away.
They seem to have gone out of fashion at the moment - memo pads and
pen holders were the latest thing last time I went to one.

Because they're special bottles that are also a talisman to protect
you from knife-wielding bike thieves.
