I used to use X-Face - 'bout 20 years ago 😉

"Face" is what I currently use as X-Face was a Black and White
thingy whereas Face gives pretty good colour for me in only 876 bytes
of header space (ok face was about a couple of hundred bytes only)

Well, Gnus s the actual newsreader, but it comes bundled with emacs
for the last few releases of emacs

And although it isn't as flashy as Blunderbird or Outlook Excess, it
gets the job done for Davey

But Gnus isn't the only "Face" header literate mail/news client
