I have just started wearing the £14 LIDL cycling shoes yesterday and will continue with them till they fall apart or whatever.
Early comments are only 2! 1. They are certainly bigger in size ( mine are 45) than the Shimano and Diadora of the same size. 2. The velcro strap is flimsier and narrower and I would expect it to be the first thing to wear out.
Other than that they seem ok and are comfortable. -- not been out in the wet in them yet though! They didn't come with a set of cleats in the box so that effectively puts the price up by about £10 but it still seems a good price!

most shoes don't come with cleats. the cleats usualy come with pedals. This might mean having to buy another bike

I've never bought a pair of shoes that came with cleats, they always come with the pedals. This year I didnt even go to Lidl because I'm still using the stuff I have bought there in previous years 🙂

Certainly sound like a bit of a bargain! If they're like some other shoes, you may find that in the wet, a significant proportion of water ingresses from underneath (through the cleat area). You can prevent this by applying some sealant like 'Shoe Goo' (http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ ProductDetail.aspx?ProdID=5360019880&referid=Frogoog), or even just bunging the area up by molding some Blu Tak around the cleats.
I like the Goo because it's pretty permanent, but others like Blu Tak because it's usually already to hand, and you can always dig it out again should you change your mind.

I've been amazed at how well mine have lasted. I've got one pair which must be four years old and been used through much of the winter weather and are still in useable condition (though they wouldn't win the "best-dressed" award).

Mine are lasting well too, I've had them about a year. Just switched to my lighter summer shoes though, being as it's so warm :-))

I got a pair the other day and I'm quite pleased although I don't go far in them (may as well use the expensive ones for big rides) and one of the screw plates wouldn't take the bolt for the cleats so I had to use the bits they give you with the pedals. Cleats came from the £9.99 set of pedals they also had on sale. -- peter

Mine too. Bought last year at about this time, and have had no problems with them at all - and the velcro is holding up well. They probably rate as more Autumn-Winter-Spring shoes than Summer-weight.
