  1. So, I have a Torker LX lying around my garage with a broken seat. I've
always really liked the looks of BMX uni's (20" rims, big smooth
tires). Or at least that's what I think they're called. Is there any
way to turn my LX into a BMX uni, without breaking relatively small
budget? I'm not really worried about the strength of the cranks, hub,
rim, frame (everything), because I already have a really solid uni. I'm
just curious as to how I could put it to good use without selling it.
    Thanks for your help!

Ok, I think I'm under the wrong impression of what BMX uni's are... I
guess what I'm trying to say is I want to turn my LX into a 20" street
uni. Does anyone know the bearing size for the LX hub? I don't think
the frame will handle any tires bigger than 2.3, so I was thinking a
Nimbus II frame with a 20G would be sweet.

  5. I don't really like the 20G for unis. It is so huge you might as well be
using a trials tire. Also it folds a lot if you dont run it at a high
psi. I think most of the advantages of a 20" uni go away if you are
using that huge tire. It is no longer really light and flickable and
you cant do really tight turns and stuff.

Dang, I guess I just wanted to turn my LX into something cool, since
it's just sitting there. Maybe I could just replace the seat and have a
freestyle uni, or sell it... unless anyone has any suggestions.

  7. Hmm, would my frame handle a Big Apple 2.35? This is the cheapest I
    could find one: http://tinyurl.com/2adqno

There's a Primo Comet 2.1 on that site, too.

  8. The Big Apple 2.35 is a great tire for a 20" street ride. I've been
using one for a while and would definitely recommend it. Overall height
is the same as a trials tire, so you should check your clearance first.
I'd also recommend using a wide rim to reduce folding at lower
    pressures.

  10. I have fit a trials wheelset in a torker LX frame, but it was a worn
tire (creepy crawler) and the frame had to be dented with a hammer to
    clear.

  11. i think your best bet is to sell ur LX and buy a street uni...

I mean like u said, your frame won't fit antyhing bigger than a big
apple (if that), and your cranks will probs bend/break and possibly
hub. Then you seem to want to change ur seat which isnt neccesary but
if you do you change seatpost and also seat.

Then you have from your LX remaining :
    - 2 plastic pedals that are no good for street cause they have no grip
    - a rim which is probably ok but 48 spoke if i'm right? and can't be
that great on a $100 uni, probs single walled.
    - some 20" spokes...

you might as well go get a $200 20" DX or sommit.

I have a street uni. All splined and steel frame.. I just wanted to
turn my LX into something decent, because it's just sitting in my
garage with a broken seat. What I think I'm going to do is go ahead and
buy the Big Apple, but I'll get some seat post spacers from UDC, and I
can just use my 22.2mm seat post and seat with my LX frame. Has anyone
    tried the sizer (http://www.unicycle.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=244)?
    Good idea?

A lot of people actually really like the LX pedals for street, they
slide well for grinds and wont ruin your legs. If you are doing more
flat style you don't really want super grippy pedals anyhow. Grip is
more of an issue with trials riding than it is with street.
