  1. Hi๐Ÿ™‚

I am totally clueless to the world of cycling...:p I bought a Specialized Rock Hopper Combo in 1988 or 89 and paid $500 for it used๐Ÿ™„ It has the 10-speed handle bars. I would like to sell it and would like to know what is a fair price to ask๐Ÿ˜•

Also, I have a question... I am looking to start cycling (or rather ride a bike) nothing fancy or competitve, and I have a great place in the mountains to ride. I have been looking at some Diamond Back bikes for around $300 and recently found a K-2 bike for $400. I really like the way the K-2 bike looks but I know nothing about them... I do ski, and wondered if they made skis?๐Ÿ˜•

Any suggestions about a reasonable priced bike for a beginner or the K-2:p

And any pricing for my old bike? Oh, and do you think my old bike is better than a new lesser expensive bike?๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you in advance for your advice!๐Ÿ™„

My opinion doesn't matter. Your old bike is worth whatever a buyer is willing to pay for it. That's a pretty early mountain bike and the drop bars will put off some percentage of potential buyers so I wouldn't be too optimistic. I'm thinking in the $50.00 range but, like I said, my opinion doesn't matter.

A newer bike will definitely be better. All of the components, even at the lower end, have gradually improved over the last 20 years. You'll get a new bike warranty too.

  3. Retro Grouch,

    Thank you...๐Ÿ™‚
