  1. Whew. Ron decided to make a traditional Easter dinner,
some chicken/sausage/hot peppers dish in the latest
Cook's Illustrated. I was upstairs when all of a sudden a
burning/tearing sensation hit. Apparently seconds after the
hot cherry peppers hit the vinegar.

It was delicious once I got over the shock.

I'll take your word for it!

My perfect sinus clearer is grating horseradish root. Last Easter
Vigile I cleared out the kitchen and had Spawn yelling, "What are
you tryin' t' do? Gas me outta the house?!"

Heh. What, were you wearing a gas mask? You got a

Years of pre-exposure have assured me a high tolerance to it. At
one point, in my Wasted Yout', I thought to taste a freshly grated
root end. Liked t' have killt me. Only other time I writhed and
danced in such a way was my first taste of Everclear. The two have
    very similar characteristics.

Once I was making chipotles en escabeche, which involved simmering the
chiles in cider vinegar, brown sugar and herbs. My daughter entered
the kitchen, winced, and staggered back: "What did you DO?" she
    demanded.

It was delicious on grilled pork.

Hot peppers really don't affect sinuses, they mostly just burn the
    mouth.

Yoose want to clear sinuses try these, separately or together... also
lifts the scalp from the cranium.

    Hot Chinese mustard.

    Fresh prepared horseradish

    Hoo boy!

I was poking around a brand-new Asian supermarket near our place today.
They sell 14kg (30 pound, give or take) cans of hot pepper paste. Send
your sinuses to the next galaxy!

Miche (who now wants hot and sour soup, dammit)

Hot and sour soup does it for me.
I love that stuff when I have a cold, or any other time...

Ah, Everclear. Make a few Purple Jesus'. A bottle of Everclear, a bottle
of grape juice and a mop bucket. Drink a few of those and you honestly see
a purple Jesus. Maybe a pinch of fresh grated root might bring on the 12
    Apostles as well.
