  1. Okay, Hollywood, just looked up Kimkins and reviewed the FAQ posted on the
lowcarber form. Seems Kimkins is a Stillman/Induction version of Atkins.

I can give that a try but I'm pretty much sold on the HCG for another reason
also. It specially depletes the fat from the abs, hips, butt and thighs.
It shapes the body. This is not only from websites but from the people I've
personally contacted and asked. I've gotten feedback on this specific issue
from 75 people. However I think the Stillman/Atkins induction in true form
may help with the HCG diet plan.

Kimkins is like Atkins Induction with an Ornish style paranoia on Fat.
At least that's my read. Low fat, low cal, low carb. I only
recommended it because it seems like what you were planning on the HCG
    plan anyway.

But, as we always say, your body, your science experiment.

Please share your experience as you go forward with it.

Hmm...I lost 140 lbs and it came from the abs, hips, butt and thighs. Why it
is that HCG gets the fat first from where people (more so women) want to
    lose it? This sounds dubious.

So, you're losing 2 lbs a month (this ain't bad, BTW). Exactly what plan are
you following now? What do you currently weigh? Are you male or female (you
impress me as female)? What is our exercise program? How many carbs / day?

While I'd rather see you try Kimkins before getting shots, I'm not convinced
you can't tweak your current program and get the weight loss moving.

You know Cubit loss his weight by eating very low carb and counting calories
(often restricting to around 1000 kcals/day)? I lost mine eating a bit
higher carbs than him but using exercise.

There are many ways to achieve the same thing. 2 lbs per month isn't bad.

This quick weight loss you're seeking as one major disadvantage. You won't
learn to alter your habits. That grindingly slow weight loss you hate so
much is the adaptation period that will meld your eating plan into your very
being. It's part of what will help you stay there. Saffire, who posts here
at least on a weekly basis, lost her weight very, very slowly. That's just
how it is for some people (seeminly more so for women).

I do think it's fair to compare your shots to GBS and he like. I view them
the same. I do realize that this is the only real option for some. Laureen,
who seems overdue to post here right now, lost 200+ lbs using this approach,
and it has transformed her life, as well as that of her husband, who also
lost a lot of weight using that approach. It works, though the impact can be
significant in terms of how you eat for the remaining part of your life. Al
Roker lost a lot, though it seems as if he is gaining some back (that's my
impression just from seeing him on TV recently talking about Imus).

I think with HCG you're more likely to regain, but I don't think it is as
impactful as GBS, so I do think it has some favor there.

If you need your shots to get there, fine. But that 800 kcals / day isn't
very different than a very low carb calorie counting approach. You talk
about HCG forcing fat loss over protein loss. Hmm? Cubit doesn't report any
problems this way. He used L-Glutamine and supplments. Also, LC is well know
to be protein sparing. Weight lifting also forces the body to target fat
over muscle since you're using those muscles - thus the body tends to want
    to keep them.

I know you've done your research (I haven't read the material). Still, I
remain dubious. Skillful LCing is likely all you need. And if you're willing
to live at the 1000 kcal/day level, then you can certainly do that while
    LCIng.

I'm sorry if it seems as if I'm picking on you. That is not my intent. 2
    lbs per month isn't bad.

  6. Did you read the links I posted about HCG? All weight lose plans sound
dubious. Atkins sounded dubious to me in Nov 1997 but after researching it,
    humm it worked!

Roger I'm sorry, 2 lbs a month is very bad because it is frustrating, leads
to giving up, mental anguish, obsessions and then over eating, pigging out,
and giving up. 2 lbs a month, what are you on crack?

HCG is a hormone not unlike insulin, much safer then say gastric bypass or
gastric banding, al la Star Jones and Al Roker. All weight will be gained
back if you do not change your eating habits and mental attitude about food.
I gained over 65 lbs back after being successful on Atkins and the birth of
my son. I was never at ideal weight, but I was at a weight I could live
with and fit into a regular size 11/12 jeans vs. a + size 20 when I started.
My old eating plan isn't working, exercise isn't working and yes I'm older,
but give me a break, 2 lbs a month is emotionally tormenting when I've got
at least 65 lbs to lose. 32 1/2 months? I'm sure a snail could circumvent
    the earth in shorter time.

I know your not picking but the mental games this is playing with me is
unreal. I'm healthy as a skinny person sans the weight, hormonal level is
fine, but fat is sticking to me like crazy glue and I'm tired of it. My
drop dead date for HCG is May first so from today on I will do the Kimkins
Experiment and see what I get by April 30. IF I drop weight without issue,
then I'm on board. IF not then I will committee to HCG and if I fail at
that, I will commit suicide. Really just give up and resign myself to being
    the fat girl.

    It's total [censored].

If you were a fathead, would HCB claim to reduce fat there first?

Effective weight loss method crack is.

So you are frustrated, anguished, obsessed, self-destructive and
intolerant losing 25 pounds a year.

And you ask if Zoulie is on crack?

I have long held the hypotheses, I believe it is fact, that the reason
the population is obese is that the number one cause of weight gain and
    retention is in the head.

  9. Hey,
Good luck. I do hope it all works out for you.

I will be starting my HCG program tomorrow with a 500 calorie diet..
There are a few support groups I am in and with people who have had
    progress....
    Melanie

  11. Hey, Melanie!
I have looked, for my own curiosity, for a sample menu/program/list of foods
for a "500 calorie diet", and I found bupkus online. I may not be searching
correctly. Could you point me in the right direction, or post a list here?
Not saying I am going to GO on such a plan, but I would like to gather more
    info, if you will.

    Thanks!

  15. It's all posted at www.hcgdietinfo.com. The original simeons diet 500
calorie, very low cal diet. There's also general information on hcg
weightloss and hcg providers. If you have more questions, you can ask
    the current dieters here: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/HCGDIET/

Also, if you're searching for info on the web, it can be difficult to
weed the hcg fertility info that's mixed in with the hcg diet
information. Try www.googleforweightloss.com their search engine is
customized to only bring back weightloss, diet and nutrition
    information.

    Good luck!

  17. The original HCG Diet protocol is published at www.hcgdietinfo.com .
It's the original manuscript by Dr. Simeon who developed the hcg for
weightloss theory in the 50's. It's rather interesting actually and
the site has all sorts of information about the diet.

And if you're looking for encouragement, you should see the owner's
before and after pics in the yahoo hcg diet group. From obese to
bikini! I for one, didn't know that was possible!

Not saying I am going to GO on such a plan, but I would like to gather more
    info, if you will.

    Thanks!

    Melanie

The 500 calorie diet menu is posted at www.hcgdietinfo.com along with
the original hcg diet manuscript by Dr. Simeons, "Pounds and Inches."
There is also an hcg diet and weight loss provider directory, and
general information on hcg for weight loss. I was personally on the
hcg diet years ago, and have kept the weight off without effort. I am
happy to see that so many people are now applying the hcg diet for
permanent behavior modification and keeping the weight off. - Jen
