Good one! I tried Seattle to Tokyo and San Francisco to Tokyo and got a message something like "We can't calculate directions from Seattle to Tokyo" and "We can't calculate directions from San Francisco to Tokyo".
On a more sober note, you may recall the incident from late last year involving the Kim family which got lost in the southwest Oregon wilderness driving from Roseburg to Gold Beach. At the time there was some speculation that they may have used Google Maps to plan their trip. I don't recall that this speculation was ever confirmed.
So, I typed in Roseburg and Gold Beach and the results definitely take you over the BLM road in question at the time.

The BUMS!!! They want you to swim the Atlantic to get to Naples, Italy too.
You should probably have dinner without me.
Thanks,
Andy [SPLASH]
Um, Andy...
Before you get going, you should realize the time estimate is a bit, um, er, "optimistic". While it is true that a human has acheived a water speed of slightly over 5 MPH, it is unlikely anyone would would be able to maintain such a speed. The 29 day figure seems to assume you will maintain this level of performance 24 hours a day for the entire trip.

Remember the news report a couple of years ago about the guy in Germany who drove in a fog relying on his GPS? He also drove onto a ferry, he thought, but it was on the other side of the river.

He didn't notice the body of water he hit first? That sets a new record for obliviousness.

Oh, I don't know where I put it, but my last motorcycle club newsletter had an article about GPS mishaps. In it was mentioned Germans and how much trouble they get into using it, because they will follow the directions no matter how obvious it is they are in a bad situation. I guess it's cultural, trust technology, despite evidence to the contrary.
They also had a picture of this road in the UK, at the entrance is a sign, DO NOT FOLLOW (your gps directions), this is a narrow road. Seems the people who lived down there got sick of trucks having to make U turns in their gardens.

Or anywhere US to anywhere Europe. But beware...they all take you through france.
Seems odd...would be faster to swim to portugal.
They all take you from Boston to Le Havre. Somebody put in a route from Boston to Le Harve with an estimated time of 29 days. Obviously a joke, but the system will use that route because there is no other route.
