The main rule is: pre-empt! Arrange, book et cetera all sorts of
exciting (or unexciting) and timeconsuming outings for family et
cetera for the days and weeks *after* your big event.

The main rule is never sign up for anything while drunk :-/

If I'd decided to do Albi again, the week-end after, it would've cost 10th
of the price and 100th of the hassle, and it wouldn't have been much
hotter weather than we're expecting for Paris.

Oh well. We'll see how quick I can drag bib 1618 round the town :-)

And the only remedy is to continue drinking right through the event.
Anticipating the predicted 79F, I've already started. I'm hoping

about sobering up by the time I reach it.
