  1. On Saturday, June 23rd, the first Emilie's Run - The Emilie Mondor
Memorial 5K Race for Women will be run at the Aviation Museum in
    Ottawa.

Ms. Mondor was one of Canada's top distance runners, the first woman
to break 15:00 for 5K and an Athens Olympian. She was killed in a car
    accident in September of 2006.

Close to 300 women are expected for the race. The top seven finishers
from last year - when the race was the RunnersWeb5K.com Race for women
    - are all returning.

The race offers $5,000 in prize money for the top open and masters
runners and merchandise prizes for top age-groupers. $100 "primes"
will be awarded to the leader at each kilometer providing that the
leader finishes the race in under 20:00.

Last year 35 women broke the 20:00 mark. Organizers are hoping for 50
to do so this year. By comparison, the Ottawa Race Weekend 5K had
3,691 women competing and only 18 ran sub 20:00.

All women are welcome to enter and celebrate women's running. Race day
registration will be accepted until 8:30 A.M. at the race site.

There is also a 1K run for children 12 and under.

The race website is at: http://www.emiliesrun.com.
