You might want a solution of rubbing alcohol with some white vinegar. A few drops in each ear after
a swim reduces chances of ear infections. You could also check with local medical clinics to see if
they see any effects on the population.

Recent flooding could add to the risks such as Pfisteria? caused by hog farm pollution, esp. between
Maryland and Carolinas on the Atlantic coast. Occurs in rivers emptying into bays and has fairly
good news coverage. Do not get exposure to this!

Have visited bathing spots with signs indicating that one should not submerse the head for fear of
contracting some severe ailment, possibly cerebral meningitis, but my memory is vague.

Pfiesteria isn't *caused* by hog farm pollution any more than it's caused by municipal overflows. It
is exacerbated by both.

In North Carolina, municipalities have been as much a part of, if not more of, the problem as hog
farms. Hog farms get more press for various reasons.

In the past few years, municipalities & farms have been fined regularly. This seems to have stemmed
the flow of violators.
