While the weather wasn't quite as warm as my husband would have liked, it had been a
busy, hectic week and we felt like just hanging out around the old homestead...so,
grilling it was.
We had friends over, as well as my BIL and his wife and kids, and everyone brought
something to throw on the grill. We ended up with some beautiful, thick cut steaks,
good sized shrimp, red pepper & corn sausages, cheddar brats, and portabello
mushrooms (my SIL is a vegetarian).
I made a quick polenta with pesto and mascarpone, a couple salads (one just a basic
garden salad with various greens, cukes, tomatoes, cabbage, carrots and so forth; the
other was baby greens with gorgonzola, cranberries, and candied walnuts), served
crudities and dip, and grilled up some asparagus.
Dessert was a trio of puddings (Belgian chocolate, vanilla bean, and tapioca), with
vanilla bean whipped cream and chocolate shavings. Coffee and tea rounded out the
sweets.
Very casual, everyone just filling their plate with whatever they wanted and grabbing
a seat where they could, but it was alot of fun and a nice, relaxed way to enjoy both
the food and the company. Here's hoping your Saturday was just as pleasant 😉
