A great deal depends on one's definition of flame war. I love it when
people get passionate about food-- even when I personally think their
taste is in their ass. I like it when people get passionate about other
topics too, again, though I might disagree with their stupid opinions.
When the argument takes a turn that's not to my liking, I skip the rest
of the thread. Maybe I've started a flame war with some of my posts. I
don't know.

When do I get my new hat? My choice is the Beanie Cap. This is so
exciting. I have not had a new hat since 1965, when I had to wear one
for my son's Bar Mitzvah. It was made to order, a little pillbox
thingy, which was popular at that time and it cost a small fortune, just
like the one I will get (hopefully) and I managed to lose it on the way
from the synagogue to my home. :o(

There have certainly been intemperate responses to some of my
posts in r.f.c and elsewhere but never a full flame war (I can't
imagine that my message rules are enough to prevent that.)

Well, when it gets reduced to name-calling and hurling insults, (which
doesn't seem to take much around here) I consider that a flame war....

I'm guessing that rfc is a great study for college sociology 101 & 201
students.

All the basic elements are here for in-depth study and cause & effect
research/participation.
