Was the original XTR model RD-M900 rear derailleur available in a long cage version? If not,has
anyone ever attempted to install perhaps an XT long cage with success? I appreciate hearing from
someone who may have had such an experience.I'd like to match it an XTR front d. Thanks, JB

yes, there was a RD-M900 SGS, like this one

i think they were made for use on tandems but they are very rare. Generally it is possible to put
other cages on but the XT will probably not work. Maybe the SGS cage from the XTR RD-M950 8speed
