  1. Beginner, but learning...

    From what I have read about decent climbs, assuming you lose 2.2lbs and retain the same power / watts, you would be able to remove 1.25% of your time / energy on the hill.

    Is there a calculation for flat ground and weight loss?

    there would be almost no difference in wattage to go the same speed...

    for example a 175 lb rider who loses 2 lbs, will save 2 W at 25 mph (325 vs 327)., 1 W at 15mph

    I think it's discussed in Bicycling Science; As far as I know the only effect of weight on the flats at a steady speed is you're deforming your tires a little more which adds to rolling resistance, hence the extra 2 watts. It adds a little to the force required to accelerate too.
