  1. In addition to my bicycle, I have a moped--scooter less than 50cc. I can
ride this for errands, to teach my class, to part-time work, etc. in my
business casual clothes. I still ride my bicycle for recreation and
exercise, but I sweat a lot when on it.

The question is about helmets. My bicycle helmet works great on the
bicycle. I glued on a visor, one of those plastic sun visors you see on the
golf course. I ride a recumbent, so I sit up straight instead of hunched
over looking at the pavement. The visor helps with the sun more than the
pitiful little thing provided with the helmet.

I bought a motorcycle helmet for the moped; one of those that looks like the
police helmet. It works great, does not slide around on my head and the
little visor is right at eyebrow level, so does an adequate job.

Now, it is summer here, and the motorcycle helmet is getting hot. I tried
the bicycle helmet on the moped, but the wind (from greater speed) catches
it and pushes it up and backward. Does anyone know of a good combination
helmet? I want one with the adjustable strap--thread through two metal
loops and pull tight. I want one with air vents like my bicycle
helmet--does a good job keeping the head cool. I want one that does not
slide around on my head when the wind catches it. I can't find this ideal
helmet. Any thoughts, recommendations, web sites to visit, stores to go to,
    etc.?

    Thanks for your responses!

I think you will find that no motorcycle helmet with large air vents
will pass the required safety tests.

You can get ones that have small vents and air channels, never met one
    that was much good.

A foam bicycle hat also provides no real protection for anything but
very low speed impact - the standard they are tested to is roughly
equivalent to what happens if a stationary upright bicycle rider falls
over. Do not expect anywhere near the level of head protection from a
foam bicycle hat that a motorcycle helmet that weighs 5 to 10 times as
    much will provide.

That would be because it's not possible to make a helmet that provides
a useful level of protection with the ventilation that almost every
    bike helmet provides.

You get to choose - ventilation or protection.

If you can't find what you want in a helmet. You could try out one of
those ARMY Coolng systems helmet and vest. Or you could move to a
    helmet free state.

You could find a helmet or you could try US ARMY cooling helmet and
vest. Or you could move to a non helmet state.
