onward.thru the years.He made learning about science easy and fun.Such a
warm gentil person.Brings back the days of Tex Antoine(weather
News),Junior Frolics,Winky Dink,Howdy Doody and Sandy Becker...Rest in

Mr. Wizard could make you a REAL night light. Once on the Tonight Show
with Johnny Carson, Mr. Wizard plugged 120 volts into each end of a
dill pickle and the thing glowed.

<Yes..early 1950,s.You sent away for the kit and it included a plastic
transparent clingy sheet that stuck to the screen.Winky woild then go
thru his adventures and the kids would connect the dots on the screen to
solve puzzles or fill in pictures with 'special' Winky crayons that
rubbed off...sort of the first interactive TV

Yeah, yeah, I know. I was kidding. We couldn't afford a WD kit, so I
just used my imagination. But, I knew a couple kids that simply
ignored this pesky technicality and went straight at their screen with
a Crayola. Looking back, that wasn't such a bad approach. Crayon or
grease pencil are easily removed with a little cigarette or fireplace
ash and a bit of rubbing. Besides, the program was pretty lame. It
had some of the worst animation of any kid program in the history
of television.

I remember they used to re-run the episodes from the 50's when I was a
kid in the late 60's and early 70's. It was Nirvana when he came back in
the 80's.

Ayuh! I remember that one. I've done the same myself and enjoyed the
gape mouthed crowds.
