I put a cut smallish whole chicken into some 6% plain yogurt with spices earlier today and let the chicken marinate say 4-6 hrs and I baked it at 375F in a convection oven for 45 minutes...
As sides I nuked 2 medium beets. I was going to grill the beets which requires you par boil them, but I got to creative and over par boiled them in other word they as cooked in the nuker.
Everything tasted great...I'd never yogurted a chicken before. Next time I'll use soime lime zest in the yogurt for the chicken.

Went to DSIL for dinner today. She made a planked whole salmon, minted new potatoes, cauliflower cheese and we had peach pie for dessert. Of course this was preceded by her usual cold meat/pate platter, fresh bread and salad.

Years ago I knew a Persian family that marinated boneless, skinless chicken in yogurt, then using kitchen twine put them onto those big flat skewers and grilled them. I'll never forget how great that was. That and the crispy browned rice pieces from the bottom of the rice pot.

Marinating in yogurt is the basis of Tandoori chicken and really works well.
