Wel i am 60 and i am thinking of doing a solo WHW i have been told NO
and Go for it, i would like to hear your coments and why for and
    against thank you

Well I am 65, and not a serious walker, I live in the fens in a
bungalow, the nearest hill to me is about a two hour drive away. But
on monday last week I walked the last stage of the WHW from
Kinlochleven to Ft William, solo, in just under 6 hrs. If that is the
hardest day as suggested elsewhere in this thread it looks good for my
plans to walk the whole length next year. I will be doing it the easy
way though, her indoors will be tracking me in the caravan moving from
site to site. I will have somewhere warm and dry to sleep at nights
    :-)

Take a close peg for your nose and try not to step on the s**t of the
ones in front. It's one of the longest toilets in Scotland.

It was a few years since I did the WHW but I have to say I found the hardest
section was along the length of Loch Lomond. It doesn't sound like it should
be difficult but it was a real slog and quite demanding. My main
recollection of the last day was the drop down towards the final road
section, I remember being glad I wasn't doing the route in reverse and that
being the start - it just seemed to go on for ever.

Nice one! As for what's hardest, there's spiritual and physical: my
brother (very fit and experienced) didn't have any trouble with the
physical side of it when he did it, but he and his wife found the Loch
Lomond section very dull, and ultimately chartered a wee boat to escape!

I've done the WHW a couple of times now. For me the worst bits are:

    1) The section beside Loch Lomond, from Rowardennan to Doune Bothy
    and
    2) The descent to Kinlochleven. You see it below and think "great,
another hour". Three hours later, after countless zigzags down the
vehicle track, you eventually reach Kinlochleven!

Tip: When you leave Kinlochleven for your final day, get breakfast at
the Ice Factor. There were four of us and we split up (myself and my
wife went ahead of the other two). They had cold sausage rolls from
the co-op, we had a mountain of fried calories for Ice Factor. Mind
you, we felt like real lardies on the pull up to the Mamore Lodge
    track :-)

I've only done it once, as an after sales test on a broken ankle, mended
    by Raigmore! (It worked)

We did Rowardennan to Crianlarich, day three, and that was a killer!

Too bloody right - we then struggled up to the Mamore Lodge (Faulty
Towers in spades, with all the hot water we needed, but bloody little
cold...) for the night, so no climb to start the last day.

Never seen a turd polluting a footpath.
On the other hand it is almost impossible to avoid the turds
    polluting uk.rec.walking.

They don't [censored] on the footpath, just to the side of it.

I've heard it described as a sewage trail
