Who makes green canvas panniers?

dont know about green but frost river (www.frostriver.com) makes bar
bags, saddle bags and panniers from light brown canvas & leather

I've seen green China Post panniers used by people who deliver the
mail.

Want me to look into how much they cost?

Have you looked in surplus stores that carry military soft goods?

Armies seem to prefer green tones for their luggage. There's usually
sturdily attached straps, handles and D-rings that can be handy for
mounting them. The stuff uses high quality material and stitching.

Make your own modifications to a surplus bag. A few rivets and a
stitching awl are easily acquired and simple to use. Trick it out
with leather straps You can usually buy replacement mounting-hardware
from your favourite pannier manufacturer.

Attach that to a cool looking pair of bowling bags. Whatever you did
it would be hard to make them uglier than those Frost River bags

Or, save your pennies, wait for the Ostrich bags and live happily
every after.

I dunno for sure, but it may be that Arkel panniers
are more partitioned in their interiors than you
might care for, rather than just having a bunch of
lovely empty space. And I haven't enough experience
with them to talk about the quality of their
attachment system.

BTW, Ken Kifer composed an interesting article about
homemade panniers, and AFAIK it's still available
at his posthumously maintained site. I don't have
the URL handy right now, but Googling on:
"ken kifer homemade panniers" oughta easily get you there.
