And it's meaningless because anecdotes, taken together, make up the
whole population statistics which tell us that helmets don't save lives,
whatever you've assumed may have turned out differently here.

Now, back under your bridge, and preferably stay there.

What's with the stupid subject line? Someone bangs their head and
dies, so you seem to be suggesting that they'd have been saved by a
    helmet? Most spurious conclusion.

My bro recently had a nasty fall where he flipped and impacted the
kerb with his helmet/head (while still clipped in - it happened so
fast). He spent three weeks in hospital and several more at home
recovering from two crushed vertebrae. He's firmly convinced that the
helmet saved his head, but (although I'd never suggest this to him) I
think there's a fair possibility that his injuries were at least
aggrevated, and possibly caused by, the rotational movement engendered
    by the helmet/kerb interface.

It's all conjecture either way, of course, but conclusion such as
you're seeming to draw are completely meaningless.

But it's pretty safe to conclude that Dewi is a tedious troll who is
either remarkably stupid, or doing a remarkably good impersonation of it.

Indeed. And I don;t think there's any impersonation going on.

I did consider deleting my post halfway through, but realised that I
still wanted to say the stuff about my brother's neck injury, so hit
    send anyway.

As a friend of mine says, the plural of anecdote is not data.

what was the better choice then, cracked head or two crushed
    vertebrae?

aren't all facts, that's why they are manipulated!

lol, have you started beating your 'meat'?

  13. I certainly feel safer wearing a helmet - particularly when hitting 50
mph. Can only imagine the consequences would be dire if my head hit the
    ground at any reasonable speed.

50mph? How well do you expect it to perform at 16 times its design limit?

Terribly sad, but individual cases are meaningless.

i'm sure he wears the body armor as well.

16times is that energy or speed?

I have just read the article, and the English is very bad
for someone who purportedly writes for a newspaper.

    Energy.
Helmets are design for crashes upto 12mph. (50/12)^2= 17.4

However that op quoted article states:

"None of them was wearing helmets."

Which implies we should all be wearing multiple cycle
    helmets.

Tut, did you understand the story?

I guess you do know that when you start criticising the way something
is written (unless your proof reading), spelling, grammar etc means
that you have nothing to add to the thread...

It's an actual case with verifiable information. Unlike the mantra
that's bandied around by the anti helmets.

The info/data must come from the A&E stats not the police KSI data.
