What's this transmitter thing....

They're just radomes protecting the antenna in the dish at the rear of
the radome. In what direction where the antennae pointing?

Being 2 of them like that, it could be a relay station along a
point-to-point microwave link.

Stone-render and slate the building so it doesn't stick out too badly,
then bolt that antenna to it...

Microwave (data) repeaters. We have several on our company buildings.

Normally we send data by fibre/copper, but should Mr JCB decide to dig
through local cables (it has happened), or any other problems with
fibre/copper transmissions, we transmit via microwave. With repeaters in
the right places you can send data over long distances. Most of our
repeaters have small generators inside the attached 'hut' which will run
for 48hrs.

Lot of military stuff is also sent this way for security - i.e. blowing
up cables, hacking into them

I agree with Chris looks like a Microwave link and also a, at a guess, VHF
antenna as well below the right hand dish.

The building looks well knackered though, wonder if its still in use ?

Thirded. We used to have them at work, until everything got satellite
uplinked directly from site. Our radomes were not as goofy as those two
though.
