  1. Is this normal.. I ride on the road about 2-3 times a week, maybe
30-40 miles tops.. or if i let the bike set for a week, either way...
i tend to loose about 8 lbs a week of air.. basically, each trip if
there are 3 of them a week, i find myself reinflating tires (new tires
and tubes, purchased about 2 months ago too).

    Cheers

I take it you mean that this happens to both front and rear wheels? Only
two things that I can think of:
    (i) you have slow punctures, commonly caused by long thin thorns that
break off in the tyre and puncture your innertube but stay in place
    effectively blocking the hole that they have made;
(ii) the brand of innertubes you have are prone to slow air loss or were
just a bad batch. Latex innertubes used to be prone to this and butyl
tubes do lose air over time too, not usually as much as 10psi/week though.

All Tires both mtb and road (especially) lose a bit of air pressure
when they have been sitting for a bit of time.

Always Run a complete check thru prior to riding you bike!
    double check tire pressure
    Check Skewers
    Check Brakes
    Lube and Clean Chain
    Check for loose bolts

Every tube has a slow leak. You just need to top it off before you hit
    the road.

    Yes, it's a minor inconvenience.

No, you don't want solid tires without tubes.

    Thanks for the replies..

Yeah.. for instance.. Friday I went riding.. had about 58 lbs of air
in the tires.. i think.. by Sunday I was down to 51-52 or so.

Ill just invest in a better air pump (120v) or compressor.
