  1. Other than cosmetic surface treatment is there any difference in
quality between 105 and Ultegra 10 speed cassettes?

I believe there is a slight weight difference, like what 10g or less,
but otherwise pretty much the same. In the "old days," one difference
btwn 105 and ultegra was you couldn't get a 12x27 9 speed cassette in
105, so ultegra, or DA, was your only choice. Now that 105 10 speed
has a 12x27, I say get the cheaper one! After all, cassettes, like
chains and brake pads, are consumables and something that needs
    periodic replacing.

Another cheap solution is Miche cassettes. Since I still run 9 speed,
I have a set on my Campy wheels, lots cheaper than Campy cassette. The
downside is the Miche cassettes are noisy. Still, for about $40 for a
9 speed cassette, I can live with it.
