    Good article. Certainly an improvement to the signal-to-noise ratio on a
    group that I find myself reading less and less of all the time...

    I'm currently trying to find a "real" ramen house here in Seattle.

    I ate a lot of saimin when I was stationed in Hawaii. Great noodle soup.
    Also ate a lot of instant ramen and still do.

    It was popular to put a couple of pieces of spam on the top along with some
    bits of vegetables and other goodies. Restaurants served huge bowls of it.

    I don't know if there is really any difference between ramen and saimin
    other than Japanese call noodle soup ramen and Hawaiians call it saimin.
