I'm thinking of getting a road bike for both commuting and solo riding. Ideally I'd like to have clipless pedals, but I don't know how well walking to / from class in road shoes with cleats sticking out will work...
I just saw a nice, low profile double sided pedal on a TREK road bike today - had a narrow platform on one side, and what looked like spd clipless on the other... Anybody know where to find such pedals? The only ones I've seen online were some really wide mtb-style cage-type deals.
Could also be something like an M540 with a plastic platform / reflectors rammed in one side.

Yes, Shimano make a plastic platform for fitting into the SPD pedals.

I did see the spd platform. I guess it comes down to which bike I buy... One has spd pedals already, so the platform woul be ideal. The other dosen't come with pedals, so a combo would be better.
