Stolen bikes, Cardiff

A Dawes Audax Sport looks like a suitable alternative. I'd need to put a
light rack on it. Would it feel very different from the Horizon?
(Horizon = aluminium, Audax = Reynolds 520.)

Thanks, I've been round the various shops, but I don't know if we'll see
them again.

It was the first such race I've been to see, it was fun. We were amazed
to see the tactics - it was like road race tactics. We also thought that
"Disrupt it, Lifeforce!" was a very funny thing to hear shouted out over
and over again. We might come again.

Afterwards we raced each other to Canton, enjoyed our meal - and then
came out to find a lamp-post with no bikes attached to it. Cowbridge
Road is packed full of people on a Friday night. I can't imagine no-one
saw them being taken.

Is that the one just up from Victoria park?
If so two reasons to go in via Ely rather than the link road, that shop
and the Clark's pie shop Mmmmmmmmm Clarks pie , drool!

A sign on the lamp-post, offering a reasonable reward for information
leading, might be a useful tactic.

I recall a similar suggestion somewhere for a small community with the
details being such that a small reward was offered for the return of the
goods, and a very, VERY large reward was offered for the name and address
of the perpetrator; only one reward would be given. It was suggested that
the perpetrator would see the sign, draw the obvious conclusion, and decide
that the small reward would be the better option.

cage. SPD pedals. Sockets for CatEye lights and Sigma computer.

Well, I've got some of that back. I haven't seen it in daylight yet, but
it's in poor shape. Various parts are missing (rear wheel, mudguard has
been torn off) or damaged and it was apparently found in some bushes,
and is rather battered all round.

I just spoke to the insurance co. about it, they might pay for a repair
or they might decide just to replace it, once I get a quote for repair.

Churchill insurance have been pretty good.

My old bike (Dawes Horizon) was recovered, but somewhat bashed up.
Churchill agreed that to have it restored to its previous condition
would be about as much as it would cost simply to replace it, and will
send an appropriate cheque.

They've also let me buy it back from them. My local bike shop is doing
it up for me; it won't be as it was, but functionally it should be as
good as before.

And I bought a secondhand Bianchi Via Nirone 7 from ebay:

I had to take the train to Stockport for it, but the seller was there
waiting for me. The bike looks immaculate. I've never ridden anything
like it, it's amazing.

I think the reach to the drops is a bit long for me - I'll probably have
to put a shorter stem on. Otherwise, it feels perfect.
