In High School, I took up running and got into the habit of running 3 times a week: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. I did this for years, taking days off for illness, weather, etc.
Then, when I was stuck at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 2 weeks, I decided to set my personal record for # of days running in a row--I hit 10. That stood for a while.
One day I thought I would try and break that record. I started my new running streak on October 14, 1977--and haven't missed a day since. Today is my 30th anniversary!

I WISH I had not been ill at all, but that's not the case.
I consider myself extremely lucky to have continued for so long as it is, but I also had to make some risky choices against common sense in many cases.

Congratulations! That is impressive. Does it mean you didn't get sick for 30 years, or did you run when you were ill?

Sounds good so far, but to me it's rather meaningless unless you tell us what the mileage was. That figure was conspicuously missing and now you can plug anything in that seems to work.

EXACTLY! The dork probably runs once around the block, or to the fridge for beer, then says "I ran today".

Jealousy is so ugly. I'm sure you are an accomplished person too, Al.
