  1. Another fine day on the South Downs, and in somewhat great weather
considering it is November next week!

Walking alone again, so it was an early 'bird start', although with the dark
mornings ... not so early. Left at 7am for the drive east to Amberley,
parking at High Titten on the South Downs Way. Outside temp was 12C, so
pleasant walking in shorts. Started out up the track, my first stop being
on Rackham Hill. The sun had not long risen, so a couple of pleasant
coloured clouds. A couple of photos from the trig point, then back on track
heading east into the sun. Gentle walking with few people about. Once at
Chantry Post, it was time to leave the South Downs Way and head south to
Blackpatch Hill (Lovely name!). Did intend having a little stop for
breakfast at Blackpatch Hill, but rather breezy, so drop down to the track
leading to Myrtle Farm and found a sheltered spot in a clump of trees.
Feeling refreshed, it was time to move and make my way west to Lee Farm,
then on to Wepham Down. Plenty of sunshine, so decided on another coffee
stop and a bite to eat while enjoying the view north. Continued west after
the break, passing through The Burgh and on to Down Farm. This brought me
back to the South Downs Way, and a short walk back to the car.

An exhilarating walk covering just over 12 miles. Slide show from along the
route at the web address below.
