After unprecedented success at the 2007 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships in January in which U.S. athletes captured three silver medals, Americans continue to perform well in the early stages of the 2007-08 season. According to the latest edition of the UCIandrsquo;s international rankings, Katie Compton is ranked number one in the world while her efforts in world-class events has the United States ranked second in the world behind The Netherlands in elite women's competition. On the men's side, the U.S. is ranked third in the world behind Belgium and the Czech Republic with Barry Wicks the top American in the individual standings.
